About the Program

The use of advanced technology to automate a slew of redundant tasks using artificial intelligence is known as robotics. The tasks could be manipulating data, processing transactions, and triggering responses in digital systems to enable them to handle tasks that are too huge and time-consuming when done manually. Manufacturing sector uses robotics at a large scale now. The global market of this segment is growing at a fast pace and is expected to touch USD 1.2 billion by 2021; its compound annual growth being at 36 percent. SVSU’s B. Voc in Robotic Manufacturing is specially designed for its application in the manufacturing industry with JBM Group as its industry partner.

This bachelors course is an interdisciplinary program including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and others. Robotics and Automation deal with design, construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing.

The programme offers rich knowledge not only in technical skills such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Instrumentation & Control systems but also provides knowledge on application of basics of Applied Science, Technology, Applied Engineering and Applied Mathematics (STEM) through its special feature of more than 60% of On-Job-training (OJT). It is a three year program divided into 6 semesters with an option of flexible entry and exit at different stages. The program is based on “earn-while-you-learn” model using dual education pedagogy.

OJT, Programme Model and Pedagogy:

SVSU has built a strong partnership with the Industry to facilitate students’ employability and entrepreneurship through the On-the-Job Training (OJT). The university has designed, developed and deployed Industry Integrated Dual Education Model (IIDEM) that facilitates “Earn-while-Learn” and provides the students with the opportunity to enhance their qualification with flexibility of entry and exit into a program. HVSU has conceptualised the IIDEM program, which is designed in such a manner where 60 percent of the credits are earned while working on the OJT or on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), wherever applicable. The students shall also earn stipend for that period. The classroom training shall be imparted by the SVSU faculty and other industry experts. The curriculum is based on theoretical and conceptual training as well as OJT. Practical and workshop experience are the key components of the overall training methodology. Forty percent of the credits shall come from the theoretical and conceptual training. The entire pedagogy is designed to develop application-based learning that will make students job-ready by earning industry work experience and learning the technical concepts hands-on.
