About the Program

Geoinformatics is the branch of study that relies on the process of acquisition and storage of spatial data and analyzing and visualizing it further enabling it for use in fields as surveying, environmental challenges like public health, migration, climate change, security and transportation safety. Geoinformatics as a full-fledged field of study has gained ground in India in the recent years and geoinformatics graduates and certificate holders find career opportunities in fields as global positioning system (GPS), mobile sensors, internet of things (IoT), and widely popular remote sensing. Applied geoinformatics as used in remote sensing software and geographical information system (GIS) is currently being used in a range of disciplines like social sciences, humanities, arts, health sciences, and engineering. Both private and public sectors are supported by one or more services enabled by geoinformatics.

Industry Partner

SVSU conducts this course in collaboration with Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), its industry partner, under its campus-industry model which draws its inspiration from the German Dual Education model. The system produces highly skilled, ready-to-work employees for the industry. In this model industry’s participation in training is far greater than traditional academic and vocational skilling initiatives and programmes. Students work and study at the industrial premises and industry-simulated university campuses for the entire duration of training. University’s dual education model enables students to “earn while learn” and students are paid monthly stipend for the periods involving on-the-job training at industry partner’s location.

OJT, Programme Model and Pedagogy:

SVSU has built a strong partnership with the Industry to facilitate students’ employability and entrepreneurship through the On-the-Job Training (OJT). The university has designed, developed and deployed Industry Integrated Dual Education Model (IIDEM) that facilitates “Earn-while-Learn” and provides the students with the opportunity to enhance their qualification with flexibility of entry and exit into a program. HVSU has conceptualised the IIDEM program, which is designed in such a manner where 60 percent of the credits are earned while working on the OJT or on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), wherever applicable. The students shall also earn stipend for that period. The classroom training shall be imparted by the SVSU faculty and other industry experts. The curriculum is based on theoretical and conceptual training as well as OJT. Practical and workshop experience are the key components of the overall training methodology. Forty percent of the credits shall come from the theoretical and conceptual training. The entire pedagogy is designed to develop application-based learning that will make students job-ready by earning industry work experience and learning the technical concepts hands-on.
