The university celebrated its first Cultural Fest- NAIPUNYA-2019 on Nov. 5, 2019 at Apparel House, Gurugram. In this event, we hosted a Galaxy of Dignitaries: Prof. (Dr.) Mohamad Shoukr Nada, Cultural and Educational Counsellor, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Laxmi Aggarwal, Pt Ajay Prasanna, Leading flautist of India, International Poet Sh Dinesh Raghuvanshi, Sh Ravinder Rana, VP Concentrix, Mr Arvind Kaul, Managing Director, East-West Automation, Mr Ramesh Aggarwal, Director, Bikanervala, Mr. Dharam Rakshit, HR Head, Dharuhera Plant, Hero Motor Corp, Ms. Lakshmi Agarwal, Founder-Stop Sale Acid, Brand Ambassador-Women Courage. Sh. Raj Nehru, Hon’ble VC of SVSU was the Chief Guest of the event.

NAIPUNYA-2019 included 35 events not only in music, dance, theatre, fine arts categories, but technical, and Heritage art & craft (Haryana) also. These events were scheduled at four Venues and about 200 participation was there. Participants were stars who were shining in 35 competitions.

Eminent personalities namely, Dr. Anju, Munjal, Singer and Music Director; Dr Pragati, Classical Dancer & Trainer; Mr Anil Arya, Chief Editor, Gurgaon Today; Mr Mahender Sharma, National Poet; Ms Urvashi Agarwal, Director, Prabhat Prakashan; Mr. M.M. Singh, Hero Moto Corp, Dharuhera Plant; Ms Garima Sehgal, Creative Writing Consultant; were invited to judge the different performances in the cultural fest. Also, Dr. Ashok Shrivastava, Dean Engineering, SVSU; Col. Utkarsh Rathor; Dr. Raj Antil; Dr Manikanwar, Assistant Professor, SVSU; Mr Amit Sinha; Dr. Raj Kumar, Capacity Building; Dr Sanjay Bhardwaj, DD; Mr. S.S Malik, Ms. Chanchal Bhardwaj, AR; and Ms. Simmi Somasundaram, DD also co-judged the various events.

The university celebrated its 1st Foundation Day at Dhudhola Campus. Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India, was chief guest of the event. Dr. Raghunath Mohapatra, Member of Rajya Sabha, Govt. of India was invited as Guest of Honor and Sh Devender Singh, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary to Govt. of Haryana, Skill Development & Industrial Training was special invitee of the event. The event highlights different skills and latest technologies in the area of Science & Technology, Management and Hospitality.

Blood Donation Camp

SVSU initiated Blood Donation Camp at its two venues namely, Transit Campus, Gurugram and WIT Campus, Sohna on 29th Nov., 2019. About 112 staff members and students donated the blood for the wellbeing of others.

The chief guest of the event was Mr. Raj Nehru, Hon’able Vice Chancellor, SVSU. All the delegates of the industries and the staff of SVSU participated into different team building activities.

Literary Review program "Chintan"

DSW organised one day Literary Review program “Chintan” on January 16, 2020 in which participants reviewed one book entitled “The Fundamental Unity of India” written by Radha Kumud Mukherjee. Prof B K Kuthiala, Chairperson, Haryana Higher Education Council, was the chief guest of the program. He underlined the importance and relevance of nationalism and integration in today’s world. He opined that the book subverts the west-generated idea that Indian nationalism is itself a culmination of colonization. Dr Ashok Shrivastava, Col Utkarsh Rathore, Ms Sujata Shahi, Sh S P Singh Chauhan, and a few students of SVSU, Mr Ankur, and Mr Aashish, Mr.Kunal & Mr Tushar also presented their reviews of the book. Hon’ble VC, Sh Raj Nehru appreciated the program and encouraged the DSW team– Prof Jyoti Rana, Dr Nakul and Dr Bharti to keep organising such programs.

On Feb 28, 2020, “Shramdaan” was conducted where students cleaned the ground and watered the plants. The purpose of the event was to make students aware about the surrounding and care for the environment.

International Women’s Day

On the line of “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”, DSW took initiative and to make students aware about gender equalization and celebrated “International Women’s Day” on March 4, 2020, where the stage was graced with the presence of Sh Raj Nehru, hon’ble VC, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Guest of honor Padama Shri Shovna Narayan, World’s Famous Kathak Maestro; Chief Guest Ms Surina Rajan, Director General, HIPA; Guest of honor, Ms Anita Kundu, three times Everest Summiter, Guest of honor.

Online singing competition

“Online singing competition” was organized on April 07, 2020 for students of 8 universities/colleges. Col SS Malik, who served the country in Indian army, and greatest knowledge of music, heading Department of Music; and Mr. Amarjeet, Skill Instructor cum coach at SVSU, National TV shows like ZEE Punjabi Saregamapa 2012 and MH one (Awaz Punjab di) judged the competition.

Online poetry competition

DSW organized an “Online poetry competition” on April 09, 2020 for students of different universities/colleges. In this talent showcase competition, students from 15 universities participated. The competition was judged by Prof. Madhu Aggarwal, National Poet (Udaipur) and Prof. Charu Kalra, National Poet (New Delhi).

National Level Laughter and Mimicry Challenge

“National Level Laughter and Mimicry Challenge” was organized on April 18, 2020 that was honoured by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Sh. Raj Nehru and Guest of Honour, Prof. Ritu Bajaj, Worthy Registrar. The renowned Rastiya Kavi, Mr. Dinesh Raghuvanshi and Lokpriya Hasya Kavi, Sh. Sudeep Bhola judged the event. In this event, participants from the six universities show cased their talent.

Global Idea Jam-SVSU Idea Factory

To motivate students as an entrepreneur, DSW invited business ideas all over the globe under event “Global Idea jam-SVSU Idea Factory” on April 27, 2020. The students from various universities participated and presented their ideas. About 93 students registered for the events from all over Globe. Students presented their business ideas and the prizes worth rupees 5,000/-, 4,000/- and 3,000/- were sponsored by the industry.

When passion stokes the flames,And burn barriers to smoke,The winds become your wings,And You’ve horizons to yoke.Amid such charged ambience did Sh Raj Nehru, the Hon’ble VC, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University and MD, HSDM, Govt of Haryana inaugurate the Annual Sports Day “SportiFY: Sports-Fitness-Yoga” organized by Department of Students’ Welfare, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University on May 13-14, 2020.

The program was inaugurated on May 13, 2020 by the Chief Guest, Padamshree, Dr Deepa Malik, Khel Ratna, Arjun Awardee and President, Paralympic Committee of India and Guest of Honor, Sh Raj Nehru, Hon’ble VC, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University and Mission Director, HSDM, Govt of Haryana. The program started with a welcome address by Dr Jyoti Rana, Dean DSW. She exuberantly welcomed the guests and delivered the concept note of the program. Sh Raj Nehru, Hon’ble VC, SVSU, praised the efforts of the whole DSW team and underlined the importance of commitment to maintain the cultural and sports activities even in the times of COVID19. Dr Deepa Malik shared her journey with the participants that had been a long saga of challenges and troubles and a vehement zeal to overcome them. A tumor and surgeries to remove it left her paralyzed but she never allowed it to paralyze her spirit and will. Like a phoenix, she emerged from her ashes whenever life and situations endeavored to burn her. Her address was so passionate that every word was charged with a certain contagious energy. She encouraged the faculty and the students not to let the lockdown hamper the growth of their lives. Dr Ritu Bajaj, Worthy Registrar, SVSU, and Dr R S Rathore, Dean, Academics also addressed the faculty members and the participants and showered their blessing. Today, three events were organized. In All India Open Online Chess Competition, 1450 players participated, including the players from India, Africa, Nepal and Indonesia; Online puzzle and Sudoku competition; and online Maha-antakshri Competition in which the members of SVSU family participated with zeal and vigor.
The valedictory ceremony was conducted on May 14, 2020. To grace the occasion, Sh Vijay Yadav, International cricketer and Ranji trophy Winner, and Sh Jojo Mathews, Executive Director, ALS as Guests of Honour, Dr Ritu Bajaj, worthy Registrar, SVSU, Dr R S Rathore, Dean Academics, as Special invitee were present. Sh Raj Nehru, Chief Guest, addressed the students and traced the origins of many modern era sports to ancient Indian culture. He made a reference to great Indian monk, Swami Vivekananda also stating that one can be nearer to Heaven through playing football than through the study of Gita. Sh Raj Nehru stressed the importance of sports in life as it not only makes the body strong but also develops a certain perseverance that helps the individual fare successfully through the tumultuous situations of life. Dr Ritu Bajaj encouraged the students and extended her blessings. Dr R S Rathore eulogized the whole DSW team for their unrelenting attitude under the guidance and leadership of Dr Jyoti Rana. Today’s guests of Honor, Sh Vijay Yadav and Sh Jojo Mathews extended their best wishes and congratulated the authorities for keeping the spirit of the sports activities alive even in such unwelcome situations. Dr Jyoti Rana declared the names of the winners in various categories. She also praised the efforts of her team members, coordinators of various programs, Deans of different faculties for making this program a success. The faculty members and students sang the national anthem before winding up the program.
